Year 5 Bright Buttons Day Print
The year 5 Bright Buttons day! On Monday 13th of July, six year 5 pupils were selected to participate in the Bright Buttons day at Crookhorn College of Technology. There were four activities such as Maths, Science, Dance, R.E and History. We were mixed into groups called Romsey, Goodwood, Petworth and Arundel.    Subjects Maths: we had to do two tasks and at first we had to make a family tree for happy, sad and blank bugs. Secondly we had a shape and they were cells as the day was part of disease and body. We had to see which ones would die and would be born by certain rules.   Science:  we started by looking at a PowerPoint. After that we discussed what we knew about disease, bacteria and fungi and viruses. We had milk, one of us had mouldy milk and put this liquid in to show who had it. We also learnt how to wash hands properly.  Dance: In Dance we learnt a routine called the snake. We also learnt about cannon is where one person goes then another one, unison all together and communitive cannon is one after the other.   R.E and History: Our final activity was R.E and History. We had to listen to a story and it was about the Black Death. After we found out ways to day and the past how they could cure the disease.  Presentation: At the end of the day there was a presentation on everything we did through out the day to the parents.  Overall we enjoyed the day!By Chloe Nowell and Rutna Vashee

Voice Mania Print

Voice Mania is Hulbert's choir.  We have just enjoyed performing at the Waterlooville Music Festival on the 15th June 2009.  Earlier this year we performed to a packed school hall and managed to raise £255 for the music department.

The children have sung a variety of songs in English and other languages.  They have sung in unison, two part harmony and even three part harmony!!!

We have had some very special children sing solos and hope that we will have plenty of opportunity next term to perform around the county.

Voice Mania is next performing at the Springwood community centre "Big Lunch" on Sunday 19th July 2009 at 1pm.

What a load of junk!!! Print

On the 15th June "The Junk Band" performed at the Waterlooville Music Festival.  We performed three pieces to a packed church!  The first used plastic chairs and beaters: "fish and chips".

The second used lots of different plastic bins and lids:"What a load of Rubbish".  The last used mixed junk including our shopping trolleys!

Later this term, the Junk Band are visiting two schools in Portsmouth to perform their wonderful rhythms to other children.  They will also be performing at the Springwood "Big Lunch" on Sunday 19th July 2009 at 1pm.
